Foot Surgery

Repair damage with foot surgery

Some podiatric challenges can be managed through physical therapy and medication. Others, however, require specialized surgery for effective repair and correction. With over 40 years of experience as a foot surgeon, you can put your confidence in Dr. Siegel and his team to help restore your strength and health.

Surgery is often the most appropriate approach for correcting, modifying, and supporting areas of your foot that are malformed or damaged. Many foot and ankle problems do not respond to traditional management. Dr. Siegel can determine when surgical intervention may be helpful. Often when pain or deformity persists, surgery may be appropriate to alleviate discomfort or to restore the function of your foot or ankle.

We perform the following podiatric surgeries at both our Great Neck & Brooklyn offices:

  • Bunion Surgery - a painful enlargement of the joint at the base of the big toe
  • Tailor's Bunion Surgery - a smaller bunion on the outside of the little toe joint
  • Hammer Toe Surgery - a deformity in the toes usually caused by tendon/joint imbalance due to ill-fitting shoes
  • Plantar Corn Removal Surgery - to prevent re-occurrence of these thick, callous-like developments at the bottom of the foot
  • Bone Spur Surgery - removal of excessive growth of bone at the edges of joints, tendons and ligaments causing pain and limits movement
  • Plantar Faschiitis Surgery - this inflammation of the thick band of connective tissue at the bottom of the foot is mostly treated non-surgically but on occasion, surgical correction is required
  • Neuroma Surgery - usually between the 3rd and 4th toes, this enlarged nerve is caused by nerve irritation and entrapment between the toes and can be extremely painful. Delicate surgical techniques generally resolve this condition permanently
  • Fracture Surgery - broken bones in the foot or ankle
  • Ingrown Toenail / Damaged Toenail Surgery - Surgery is typically performed in the office under local anesthetic, and many patients can walk out and return to activities. Surgery involves either partial or total removal of the nail
